Nexus: Research, Youth, Education and Sustainable Development

Youth in Action for Sustainable Development Goals
It’s a contest addressed to young people under 30, which rewards the best design concepts related to the SDG achievement. The proposals develop innovative, high-impact solutions, and stand out for their strong technological components.

Disseminating the culture of Sustainable Development - Educare allo Sviluppo Sostenibile
The project has provided for a series of meetings carried out during 2019 with the classes of two schools of Milan, to whom a survey over sustainability issues was subjected; on the basis of their answers a course of seminars was organized in order to reflect on the 2030 Agenda challenges, and possibly to review each one’s way of life with the aim of arriving at a change in thought involving each sphere of our daily life.

Teen in Action for Sustainable Development Goals
The project is structured on a series of meeting with some students of Milan starting from September 2019, in order to raise their awareness regarding the 2030 Agenda and its SDGs. Ultimate purpose of the activity is the creation of a start-up, able to solve a problem considered fundamental (and verifiable in one’s daily life) during the seminars.

Main Results and Outputs

Youth in Action for Sustainable Development Goals
Youth in Action calls in the youth to face first-hand the main economic, social and environmental challenges of our time, with the aim of developing innovative solutions, with a high social and technological impact, and of contributing to the SDG achievement. Prizes include more than 25 internships within the sponsoring organizations 3 or 6 month-long, a journey to NY to present their projects, and a sum of money for training courses and activities.

Disseminating the culture of Sustainable Development - Educare allo Sviluppo Sostenibile
To sum up, the students engaged in the project have shown a great sensibility to the Agenda issues, which have been descripted by them with terms such as “hope”, “utopia”, “need”: the new generations seem to fully seize the opportunities, and at the same time to fully understand the delicacy/criticality of the challenges raised by the SDGs.

Teen in Action for Sustainable Development Goals
Students will develop ideas over possible start-ups able to solve a certain amount of daily and concrete problems linked to the SDGs. The final goal is to deeply cover with them the topics of the Agenda, and to understand the dynamics and issues existing in the translation into practice of the concept of sustainability. The students will present works to their class, simulating an interview with possible investors.
